Symaxx Installation

  • Copy the Symaxx2.._tar.gz file to a location of your choice.
  • Run gzip -dc Symaxx2..._tar.gz | tar -xvf -
  • Compile the `Format' package with ./symaxx -compile (optional, to be able to use the `Format' feature)
  • Test by typing ./symaxx2 in the Symaxx2 directory.
  • If it works, create a link in /usr/local/bin to symaxx2.
  • You can modify the file Symaxx2/Symaxx2/Preferences.pm to set the correct path to the Maxima documentation. Then you can open the Maxima manual through Symaxx.
